In mobility surveys, GPS trajectories need to be complemented by metadata such as travel mode. Usually, time consuming diaries have to be kept by the survey participants. To make the automated collection of such data easy for the participants, the data can be processed automatically to reduce necessary post processing efforts. Therefore, the daily GPS trajectories should be cut into parts at changeover points and the modes between these points should be derived. The user can then correct faulty detections easily in a dedicated tool.
